PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT-WORLDWIDE CAUTION
 
This is a warden message from the U.S. Embassy in Harare.
 
As the local and international media have reported, there have been disturbances the past few days associated with the police operation “Restore Order,” mostly in Harare but also in other towns.   The police have arrested approximately 10,000 individuals, and there are increased roadblocks in and around Harare and on major roads connecting towns. 
 
To date, there have been no incidents targeting American citizens.  American citizens are advised to exercise normal caution when traveling around town, particularly in Harare.  Avoid going into high-density areas.  If possible, carry a mobile phone or other means of communication.  When instructed by police or other security officials to stop at a roadblock, comply with these instructions.  Do not stop at any unofficial roadblocks.
