U.S. Embassy, Harare: Warden Message (Number 24)
3 July 2008This warden message is to update American citizens on the security situation in Zimbabwe following the conclusion of the presidential elections. The U.S. Embassy continues to urge all Americans to use
heightened caution during their daily activities and to avoid high-density suburbs and any large gatherings. Based upon the reduction of violence in the low-density suburbs, the U.S. Embassy has lifted night-time travel restriction for U.S. government personnel but may periodically restrict the travel of U.S. government personnel outside the capital city or within Harare during certain hours.
Americans should review the Travel Alert for Zimbabwe at http://travel.state.gov/travel/cis_pa_tw/pa/pa_3234.html
We strongly recommend that American citizens register their presence in Zimbabwe via the Internet at https://travelregistration.state.gov or in person at the U.S. Embassy in Harare, located at 172 Herbert Chitepo Avenue (Tel. 263-4-250-593/4/5, email consularharare@state.gov). In the event of an after-hours emergency, please call the above number and ask to be transferred to the duty officer.
