The first step in applying for a temporary working, trainee or intra-company transferee visa is to locate an employer in the United States who requires your services and who is willing to file a petition on your behalf with the Department of Homeland Security, known as DHS. If DHS approves the petition, it will be forwarded to the U.S. Embassy where you wish to apply for your visa.
This Embassy will notify you upon receipt of an approved petition. If you have already received notice of an approved petition according you H, L, 0, P or Q visa status, you can apply for your visa in person, Monday through Thursday, except on U.S. and Zimbabwean holidays, from 9:00 a.m. to 12 noon, at the Consular Section.
You need to submit a valid passport, one photograph per person, the original notice of action, i.e. 1-797 form and a two-part bank receipt proving payment. Click here for schedule of fees. If you wish to apply for your spouse and children, you must also submit valid proof of the relationship and a valid passport, one photo, and a two-part bank Receipt payment for each additional person. Preferably, every person including children, regardless of age, needs to hold his/her own individual passport to enter the United States.
