NOTICE TO THE MEDIA: Roundtable on the Role of the Media in Economic Development

The U.S. Embassy’s Public Affairs Section will host a media roundtable on the role of the media in economic development.

Members of the media are invited to attend this event. (See further details below).

The discussion will be led by visiting scholar and veteran diplomat Robert Smolik. Smolik is currently the U.S. State Department's Diplomat in Residence at the Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Previously, he served as the U.S. Deputy Permanent Representative to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in Paris, where he managed a team from seven federal agencies working on issues including anti-corruption, counter-terrorism financing, trade, investment, and education. Earlier in his career, he was assigned as Energy Officer in Paris, as Principal Officer in Trieste, and as Economic Counselor in Santo Domingo. He is a graduate of Cornell, Berkeley and Harvard.
