Meeting with Vice President was "positive"

I would like to address statements made yesterday in the government-owned press regarding my courtesy call with Vice President Mujuru yesterday.  Vice President  Mujuru and I had an extremely cordial, productive and friendly visit yesterday,  discussing ways we can work together to improve the lives of Zimbabweans.

At no time was there any discussion about the events at National Heroes Acre on Sunday.  There were no statements made by myself or VP Majuru regarding Heroes Acre or my meeting with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.   The unattributed source who made these claims is at best mistaken in their facts.  At worst this is a fabrication which attempts to undermine a very positive, productive meeting between myself  and a  very senior Zimbabwean government official .   

The United States is a great friend to the Zimbabwean people and will continue to make every effort to deepen and strengthen our relationship.
