Harare, May 8, 2009: The Mukuvisi Woodlands Environment Center says it will intensify its video education program following a donation of a 12 square meter screen by the U.S. Embassy Embassy’s Public Affairs Section. The screen will be housed at one of the organization’s rondavel with a sitting capacity of 150 individuals.

The screen was handed over today by Tim Gerhardson, Public Affairs Officer at the U.S. Embassy who also donated library books to the center’s library housed at the premises.

Allein Chimnakire, vice chairperson of the private voluntary organisation devoted to environment education, said the donation is for the people of Harare.

The Mukuvisi environment center- approximately 10 minutes drive from Harare city center- is the focal point for conservation education in Harare, with regular programs for school children and other interest groups participating in conservation and natural environmental studies.

A peaceful haven and home to a variety of indigenous flora and a range of wildlife, the center is also home to several environment organizations such as the Campfire Association, Zimbabwe Orchid Society, Zambezi Society, Wildlife & Environmental Zimbabwe National Office and Wildlife & Environmental Zimbabwe Mashonaland Branch.
